A Special Place is an After-School Program Ministry of North Shore Baptist Church. In its fifth year, our focus is providing homework assistance to first through sixth graders throughout the Chicago Public School year. 

We meet in our third floor classroom which has computer stations, reading library and snack area, in addition to homework tables. Upon completion of their homework, the children do the 20 minutes of reading required by the CPS curriculum. After that, playtime with puzzles, games or in the gym downstairs. 

Every Friday, in order to improve their spelling and reading abilities, we have a spelling bee. Each quarter, we have a Spelling Tournament and Family Get-together to celebrate our kids achievements and for you to meet your children's friends and tutors.

We need volunteers to be “Study Buddies,” assisting kids with homework.
